First Results: #1 Estenger and #4 Eagon Win Easily

Eric Eagon, a semifinalist in last year's GSC Tennis Tournament, continued his winning ways in this year's edition with a convincing straight sets win over Adam Benson 6-3, 6-1. Eagon was solid throughout the match wearing Benson down with his impressive defensive game.  This first round match was necessitated after a scheduling conflict made playing next Tuesday impossible for  both.  Eagon moves on to the quarterfinals where he will meet the winner of Varrell Eddie vs. Andrea Alexander.  Eagon is on a collision course with #1 seed and four-time GSC champion Max Estenger.

At Virgil Aponte's request, Max Estenger played him on Friday and easily defeated him 6-1, 6-0 in straight sets in their First Round match.  Aponte asked to play on Friday instead of Tuesday because he said he would be hanging out with his nieces and nephews on Memorial Day and might be too pooped to play effectively.   The match seemed to have tired Aponte out  anyway as he took comfort in a spectator's chair during changeovers.  This was Aponte's third GSC tennis tournament appearance and the first time he has lost in the opening round.  With the tournament out of the way, he will now be able to focus on his entrepreneurial activities--5 Linx, nutritional supplements, beauty creams, stair climbing books, and homemade cookies.  Good luck with all that Virgil!  And thanks for being a great sportsman and supporter of the GSC Tournament.
